Storing Christmas Lights
If you’re like most people, you’ve been frustrated in the past by tangled Christmas lights that took forever to unravel. This problem can easily be solved by wrapping your lights around an ordinary clothes hanger. You can then hang this hanger from a clothes rod, or place rows of hangers inside a cardboard box.
Protect Breakable Ornaments
Smaller ornaments will fit nicely inside a standard egg carton. It is also easy to stack multiple egg cartons inside a crate or plastic tote so that all your tree decorations are in one location. Larger ornaments should be stored in plastic containers designed especially for that purpose. If you only have a few larger ornaments, it may not be worthwhile to use a plastic container, in which case you can wrap ornaments in tissue paper and store inside cardboard shirt boxes instead.

If you have enough space to store your tree fully assembled, you can save yourself a great deal of time putting it together. If you must take it down and store it, a Christmas tree bag can be an ideal solution. Made from heavy canvas, this bag prevents damage due to moisture or exposure to UV rays. An alternate solution would be to stuff individual branches inside very tall cardboard tubes, which could then be stacked in the rafters of your garage in order to save space.
